An EPI cast floor is a sustainable choice for the future
The demand for sustainable solutions to furnish our homes is growing by the day. We are increasingly aware of the footprint we leave behind and want to minimize it. Choosing a solid flooring system that will last for years is an investment for the future. An EPI cast floor lasts up to 35 years, is comfortable, easy to maintain and suits every kind of home, life stage and living style.
Long lifespan
A cast floor is generally more durable than many other flooring systems. On average, a cast floor lasts longer than laminate or PVC flooring. With a lifespan of about 35 years, that’s two to three times longer. Applying a new topcoat (final coat) extends the life span and keeps the floor in top condition. In addition, an EPI floor can always serve as the basis for a completely new floor.
Wonderfully comfortable in combination with underfloor heating
A cast floor spreads heat quickly and evenly, bringing your home or office up to temperature quickly. Because of their relatively thin layer (2-3 mm), cast floors use underfloor heating more efficiently than average flooring systems. This makes them more energy efficient. Even when the underfloor heating is off, the cast floor does useful and sustainable work by absorbing ambient heat. This provides nice warm feet in winter and a cooling effect in summer. In combination with underfloor heating, a cast floor is therefore very comfortable and sustainable!
Eco-friendly products
EPI deliberately uses as many natural raw materials as possible. A lot of time is invested in innovation of products and processes. One of the ways we do this is by optimizing production processes in order to use as few raw materials as possible to minimize residual products. Furthermore, we look critically at the origin of raw materials and choose as much as possible natural raw materials that we can get from nearby. EPI PU casting floors are primarily based on pure and modified vegetable oils in combination with mineral fillers and pigments. EPI’s flooring systems are solvent-free and/or water-based, minimizing emissions of volatile organic compounds. Our floors are free of plasticizers and PVC and contain no chemical diluents. The products have virtually no emissions after the products are cured.
