A sleek cast floor is pleasing to the eye and gives every room in every home something special. When the Smits Family secured their plot on Eiland IV, the southernmost island in Waterrijk Woerden, they already knew: “We want a hygienic, seamless floor that radiates warmth; a floor that can be combined well with underfloor heating and that also dampens sound.” The EPI Superbase cast floor meets all these criteria and was therefore a logical choice.

The Smits family chose the color Autumn blend, a warm gray with a shade of green. “We chose not to have the blend in the floor applied too heavily. The moment the first buckets were poured, we were there ourselves to determine how the hint of the blend should be. The blend turned out exactly as we imagined. Nice and even with a slightly busier hint at times where the bucket was poured.”

Anti-slip and underfloor heating in the bathroom

In the bathroom, the choice was made to make the floor seamless: “In the bathroom, we had the blend finished with a non-slip fraction. You can’t see anything, but such a non-slip treatment ensures that you don’t slip.” The combination with underfloor heating provides additional comfort in the bathroom. “Even with bare feet, it’s wonderfully warm to walk on,” he says.

Sound deadening effect

Family Smits designed the house with AL architecture. Some rooms in the home are quite high, with some rooms reaching as much as four meters in height. Family Smits: “That’s why it was important for us to install a floor that makes a positive contribution to acoustics. EPI’s Superbase cast floors have all the properties we find important. We are super happy with this result.”
