After twelve years of living in Hoofddorp, it was high time for Esther Dellenbag and her husband to move on. “We had a great house, but in spite of this we never managed to settle down in Hoofddorp,” Esther explains candidly. “When looking for a new home, we didn’t put any restrictions on ourselves. We looked at a number of houses, but it proved difficult to find something that really made our hearts beat faster.”
Former ballet studio
“Until we stumbled upon a former ballet studio in Haarlem during an Open House Day.” Esther smiles. “Nothing had been done to it for about 40 years, so we would have to completely gut the property, but we looked right through that. This was the property we wanted. This was the place we were looking for. We bought the property in May 2018 and we haven’t regretted it for a moment.”
Tough floor
“We knew it would be a lot of work, but we didn’t really look forward to that,” continues Esther. “We found a good architect and a contractor with whom we had a fantastic click. As for the floor, we already knew we wanted a cast floor. Our home in Hoofddorp had a smooth and soft cast floor. For this house, we went looking for a tougher floor and so we actually ended up at Corestone pretty quickly.”
The right color
Esther and her husband visited the EPI Experience showroom and became convinced. “If we know something is good, we don’t need to look any further,” agrees Esther. “EPI put us in touch with MC Floorstyling and they helped us wonderfully. We looked at a few samples in our new home and ended up going for another shade that went better with the light and the other colors of our interior.”
Pleasing to the eye
After everything in the home was done, the concrete-look floor was applied. “We had already moved into the second floor, so we were able to witness everything,” Esther says. “With each coat that was applied, our house became a little more beautiful. In the hall, we had the original Granito floor restored and the Corestone Classic floor matches that beautifully. The floor is pleasing to the eye as well as to our feet and completes our home.”
