In the middle of the Betuwe is the home of Marijke and Patrick. Over the past two decades they have regularly renovated their home. From a different color on the wall to complete renovations.
Last year, they engaged an interior designer to tackle the living room and kitchen. The path they took to arrive at a suitable floor to match their new interior can be read in this blog.
Wishes and needs
Warm, gray sand tones and raw materials were particularly prominent in the designs. Examples include wooden furniture, raw concrete on the walls and metal accessories. To bring these designs to fruition, they sought a floor with the same rough texture and look. The floor had to look spacious, be suitable for pets and able to take a beating.
Showroom visit
Eventually, they ended up at EPI in Houten. During their showroom visit, they looked at various flooring systems ranging from smooth cast floors to concrete-look floors and terrazzo floors. The Corestone Nature cast floor appealed to them greatly because of its authentic look and strong properties. This is because the concrete look cast floor is stronger than average cementitious cast floors and the chance of cracks is very small. Marijke continues “Our dog is quite playful and runs through the whole house out of enthusiasm. A strong and safe floor is no luxury then. We also often receive guests, so a long-term sustainable solution suits us well.”
In practice
The family is very pleased with their flooring choice “We are extremely happy with our Corestone Nature cast floor. The cast floor is a great addition to our interior. It is often said that the floor is the foundation of a home. So the floor largely determines the atmosphere in the home. “Not only aesthetically the floor appeals to us. It is also a good choice in practical terms. We often keep our shoes on in our home. Dirt from outside can therefore be easily taken inside. Because the floor is seamless, dirt does not adhere to the surface as well, which makes cleaning a lot easier. In addition, dirt is less visible because of the structure of the floor. Ideal for when you have a busy life.” said Marijke.
