EPI was exclusive flooring supplier for the award-winning project The Gasholders. In the heart of Kings Cross, Europe’s largest urban redevelopment scheme, you will find this huge industrial heritage project. Three residential buildings have been created in the frames of the old gas holders by renowned architectural firm WilkinsonEyre Architects. As many as 145 apartments and penthouses have been incorporated within these buildings. There is also a private gym and spa for residents, a business lounge and an entertainment room with movie theater, a reception and a private dining room.
Jonathan Tuckey Design
The landmark building has been given sophisticated, contemporary apartments, where the residents’ wishes have been taken into account. The apartments have been designed by Jonathan Tuckey. Jonathan Tuckey Design is the London-based firm specializing in transforming special (old) existing buildings or industrial heritage into modern, functional buildings and homes. They have realized projects worldwide and were the perfect party for this huge project.
The goal of the interior design for this project was not to simply create a design, but to find a perfect balance between what was possible within the construction and the wishes of the new residents. The most important thing for this design is that the apartments are beautiful homes where the residents feel completely at home.
Interior
Each apartment has been given a completely unique design and look and feel. Unique and eye-catching details and many different materials have been used to make each apartment entirely its own. An attempt was made to elegantly incorporate the mechanical and industrial character of the building into the interiors. A lot of industrial materials such as resin, steel, brass, wood and concrete have been used. EPI Superbase cast floors were chosen for most of the apartments.
