The Poot – Ten Pas family from Rotterdam chose a striking and contemporary interior. A dark cast floor combined with furniture and objects in the color scheme inspired by the gorge in the mountains of Altea (Spain). Sound attenuation

“In our waterfront apartment, we have upstairs and downstairs neighbors. That means you have to deal with noise reduction rules. I also suffer from tinnitus, so a floor that reduces the impact sound as much as possible is very pleasant. I had my eye on a cast floor for some time and was looking for a party that could do something for me. EPI offered the possibility of combining a stylish cast floor with a sound-reducing membrane. The added advantage is that this EPI Membrane prevents cracking by 99%,” says Ageeth.

Striking (floor) choices

In general, people are more likely to choose a lighter cast floor color. It is a somewhat safe choice, it is easier to combine with multiple interior styles. Ageeth continues, “We deliberately chose a dark cast floor. You would think that a dark color makes the room optically smaller. Fortunately, this is not the case because of the large windows. The dark floor actually gives a warm and magical effect. It really connects all the furniture and wall decorations in our home.”

“In our our apartment a lot of beach and sand colors are reflected in the furniture, decoration and wall coverings. In contrast to many “Ibiza-style” interiors, we chose some dark Dutch nature tones that again go well with the dark color of the floor. The dark cast floor is a real eye-catcher and provides many positive comments”

“The rooms in the apartment all have a separate theme. Natural materials and colors are the common denominator in these rooms. The different styles cannot be pigeonholed either. For example, rough wooden furniture is alternated with a round, soft corner sofa. For me it is a mix and match where the color determines the match,” Ageeth adds.
