Although the cast floor is gaining ground in Dutch homes and/or offices, the tile or PVC floor still has a larger share. Entirely unjustified, because there is a lot of confusion about the cost of a cast floor. In this blog, we compare the cost of a cast floor with the regular tile floor and PVC floor.
Acquisition cost
The purchase cost of a new floor often falls a little higher than expected, no matter which flooring system it is. A quality floor will last for years and is therefore more than worth it. To make a fair comparison, we take the average prices of each flooring system. We then calculate the cost using a floor area of 100m².

Prices quoted are from workspot.co.uk
The table above shows that tile flooring is divided into ceramic and natural stone tiles. Natural stone is naturally somewhat more expensive than ceramic tiles. PVC flooring is available as either click or slab versions. The processing cost for slab PVC flooring is higher due to gluing to the subfloor.
EPI cast floors are sold by us as a whole, therefore the prices are added together. Depending on the flooring system, prices will vary. All prices shown are exclusive of VAT.
Lifetime
The lifespan of all three flooring systems is unsurpassably long. For example, an EPI cast floor will last at least 30 years. Compared to a tile or PVC floor, cast flooring is a completely seamless system. This has the advantage that dirt does not stick to the surface as easily and does not get into holes and cracks. So keeping the EPI cast floor clean is a lot easier.
Not more expensive than a tile liner
The table shows that, on average, the cost of an EPI cast floor is no higher than a tile floor. So a consideration is well worthwhile.
The EPI Superbase is priced at € 92.17 per sq. ft. and the EPI Corestone Nature is priced at € 115.21 per sq. ft. based on 100 sq. ft. So this tile floor price range of € 90.00 to € 137.00 per sq. m. is quite similar to the EPI cast floors.
