The detached new construction home on the waterfront in Schagen is stylish and timelessly decorated. The Bakker family invested a lot of time in furnishing their home. “Everything has to be done to perfection. The floor is the foundation of the home, and we tailored the furnishings to that. We ourselves live within cycling distance of the sea and used this as inspiration. In our house you will find sand and beach colors and materials that are reflected throughout the house,” Thijs says enthusiastically.
Showroom visits
To choose the floor, Thijs and Daphne drove to the EPI showroom in Houten. “Here we were warmly received and perfectly informed about the different flooring systems and possibilities, such as floor heating. Through the floors and samples presented, choosing a floor is an easy task. The larger surfaces give a realistic picture of the application and atmosphere,” says Daphne.
Floor Choice
The Bakker family from Schagen lives in a gas-free and energy-efficient home. The house is built energy-neutral and has a heat pump. The house is heated with underfloor heating. EPI cast floors are ideally suited for underfloor heating due to their low thickness and easily absorb ambient heat. Thus, the cast floor feels wonderfully warm in winter and gives a cooling effect in summer. The perfect sustainable solution that is future-proof.
On the first floor is the Corestone Nature floor in the color Glow. This concrete-look floor has a robust appearance but the characteristics of a cast floor. The natural characteristics fit well with the love of the sea and beach.
On the second floor is the Superbase floor in the color Goldy. This cast floor has a sleek and modern finish. The floor is strong, seamless and timeless. The Superbase floor feels softer than the Corestone Nature, which gives a nice feeling in the bedroom. The smooth surface makes it difficult for dirt to adhere. So the floor is easy to clean and keep clean, ideal if you have a family with small children.
After six months
Both floors have now been in use for six months and are very pleasing. “We are extremely happy with the results. The floors are thoroughly used by our children. On the floor they play with cars or ride roller skates back and forth. Because of the wear-resistant layer and good maintenance, you can enjoy the cast floor for up to 30 years.
